Museum as well as tribal heritage.
Shree Govindajee Temple
Shri Govindajee Temple belongs to the Vaishnavites. The
temple is an important center located at the core of Imphal's
traditions.
Built in the early 18th C under the Rajarishi Bhagyachandra
regime, the Shri Govindajee Temple hosts festivals when
thousands of people come to offer prayers. The presiding deity
is Lord Vishnu, flanked by the shrines of Balarama and Krishna
on one side and Jagannatha on the other side.
The twin gold domes, paved courtyard and large raised
congregation hall are noted features of Shri Govindajee
Temple.
Loktak Lake
Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in northeast
India and one of the most famous sights in Manipur.
Loktak forms part of Keibul Lamjao National Park and the lake
is covered with floating 'islands' of thick matted weeds.
Visitors can watch the inhabitants living on these small
islands, view the colorful water plants and admire the
shimmering blue waters.
Fishermen also live near the shores of Loktak Lake in neat
huts as they ply their trade.
